​Get to know yourself as a mover and expressive being.  Incorporate more activity into your day to the sound of good tunes.  Dabble in a variety of dance styles from studio dance to folk dance amidst a friendly community.  Participate in the Evening of Dance with access to our state-of-the-art Dave Dunnet Community Theatre!  Feel the thrill of performance in a group setting.

​Master your artistry and grow your technique in a variety of dance styles from studio dance to folk dance!  Focus your education on developing your dance passion.  Participate in the Evening of Dance with access to our state-of-the-art Dave Dunnet Community Theatre.  Expand your horizons with opportunities to perform at the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival, Elements School Dance Competition, Fine Arts Tours (performing at G.V.S.D. middle schools), & the Oak Bay Tea Party Parade!

​Dance Choreography is an inclusive course for ALL levels and diverse dance experience.  This course is an exploration of movement and a consistent practice in creative thinking.  Develop your own unique dance style with the support of other young artists.  Share your invaluable voice through music and movement.  Join this class twice a week at lunch time to expand your creative mind and try your hand at devising your own choreography, both independently and in small groups.  Perform your own choreographic works on the Oak Bay stage!

Experience a group of students who collectively love to dance.  As a member of this elite company, you will have the opportunity to dance with Ms. Alana, student choreographers and guest choreographers.  Study choreography in a variety of dance styles including Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Broadway & Jazz Funk with amateur and professional dancers & choreographers.  Demonstrate your talent and artistry at Evenings of Dance, school events, Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival, Elements School Dance Competition, Gary Taylor Basketball Tournament, Grade 8 Transition Day & the Oak Bay Tea Party Parade!  Create your own choreographic works for performance on the Oak Bay stage!

Hip Hop Crew
Grades 9-12

Dance Performance
​(4 credits)


​Recommended:  Grade 9s MUST be registered in Dance Foundations Level 1 or 2
 to participate in this course.  1 year in the O.B.H. Dance Program OR current students registered in timetable dance courses (e.g. Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced)

​The Hip Hop Crew (a.k.a Mini-Squad) is a group that practices weekly outside of the regular timetable.  The group consists of students from grades 9-12.  Students train hard in the hip hop genre, primarily focusing their attention on learning choreography for performance and competition.  Participate in the Evening of Dance and compete at school dance festival & competition.  Students work with guest choreographers from the community.

Outside Timetable Offerings


The Ballroom Dance Club is hosted by O.B.H. and partially funded by the Victoria Ballroom Dance Society.  We welcome expert teacher and professional dancer, Ms. Wanda Kivitt, into our studio to share the intricacies of the graceful artform of Social, Ballroom and Latin Dance.
